Originally, YG preferred individuality and skills over visuals
They stayed faithful to their song quality
That was the image they had
While for SM, it's more face over skills? And they were very diverse
They picked people who were able to reach as many people as possible
But when I look at their rookies right now
Seems like visuals really played a big part in choosing the members for BlackPink...
There was originally 4 other people? How I see it is that YG already had the upper hand with skills so they wanted to go for visuals a bit more this time...
And they're kind of pushing Jisoo for acting too..
I also see BlackPink really often on variety shows too
Oh the other hand, NCT is a project for idols right
they have that structure where you can go in and come out...
But projects like that was originally YG's specialty no??
Win project, Mix&match project, etc. They did that with iKON too
When Bigbang debuted, they also insisted in having a project like that..
More than for visuals, seems like they picked NCT for their skills..
While YG is pushing more their kids into SM's specialty which is acting and variety shows..
Also didn't SM have no good rappers and YG were known to have them?
However, they now have Taeyong and Mark and they're so talented
They could've entered YG with their rap skills..
I just feel like BlackPink and NCT have different feel to them..
More precisely, it feels like NCT is really YG-like
